ABOUT US
Officially formed in 1987 by the amalgamation of Brantwood and Lynden Hills Associations, the boundaries are (North) Powerline Road, (West) Park Road North, (South) Lynden Road, and the Eastern City Limits.BNA is the largest and most active association in the City of Brantford and surrounding area.
Our general meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm - everyone is always welcomed. The annual general elections are held on the first Wednesday in October at the Branlyn Community Centre, and all residents within the specified boundaries are eligible to vote or run for a position on the committee. MISSION STATEMENT
Branlyn Neighbourhood Association is an organization that is dedicated to meeting the growing social and personal needs of the neighbourhood, while promoting community involvement with persons of all ages. The Association, through various groups and activities, will work to foster community team spirit and a positive lifestyle that will assist others to develop to the full extent of their potential.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- Establish, maintain and operate a Neighbourhood Association within the prescribed boundaries of the Corporation of the City of Brantford
- Develop and administer a variety of athletic programs for all ages of the general public
- Arrange workshops and education programs for the benefit of the general public
- Promote community involvement without prejudice, to race, colour, creed, and ability
ACHIEVEMENTS & CONTRIBUTIONS
- Organizes and oversees the operation of a co-ed youth recreational slow-pitch league since 1985 that has been expanded to include a successful adult league
- Working with developers and the City of Brantford to improve the condition of the neighbourhood parks
- The development of Lynden Hills Park, including the construction of a baseball diamond, asphalt pad for tennis, an outdoor skating rink, as well as sodding and the planting of trees
- The purchase in 1997 of $40,000 of handicapped accessible playground equipment for Lynden Hills Park, made possible through the sale of Nevada Tickets
- Providing neighbourhood residents with up to three outdoor skating facilities every year
- Actively involved with tree planting in Lynden Hills Park, Bridle Path Park, Friendship Park, Silver Bridge Park, and Florence Buchanan Park
- Successfully lobbying the municipal government for the installation a stop sign (at Brantwood Park Road and Banbury Crescent)
- Offering Umpire clinics to youth in the neighbourhood through Softball Canada. Youth umpires involved have the option of earning community service hours or remuneration while umpiring neighbourhood league games
- The sponsorship and support of over 25 league teams by a number of Brantford businesses
- Raising over $78,000 for community events and necessities through the sale of Nevada tickets
- All of the events and activities provided by the BNA rely heavily on volunteers, including slow-pitch baseball, the Family Fun Day, and the annual New Years Eve dinner and dance. For the benefit of the neighbourhood, members of the association devote numerous hours. More volunteers are always needed to help make the event successful and to assist in community improvements
